Coalition of Caring Planning Committee Members

 

James “Jamey” Burnham was born in Winchester, Massachusetts in 1971.  He graduated from Exeter High School in 1989 and went on to Norwich University where he received a Navy ROTC scholarship, majoring in Criminal Justice.  In 1991, Jamey sustained a brain injury in a car accident, complicated by a lack of oxygen that happened as the result of misintubation in the local emergency room.   He lives in Kingston.  His parents live with him and are his guardians and primary caregivers. Jamey attends Steppingstones in Portsmouth, and has participated in brain injury prevention programs sponsored by the New Hampshire and Massachusetts chapters of the Brain Injury Association.

 

Martha Stebbins Burnham was born in LaCrosse, WI in 1948; grew up in Winchester, MA, graduated Winchester High School and University of Maine, Orono with a BA in English Literature.  She has resided in Kingston, NH for 20 years. Wife of Stephen for 40 years. Mother of Jamey for 39 years and Jessica 35.
Grandmother of Bourque and Lily Francoeur for 5 and 3 years respectively JCaregiver for 19 years to Jamey who sustained a brain injury in an ER after a car wreck. She is dedicated to preventing traumatic brain injury and supporting caregivers of all acquired brain injury.

 

Frank Byrne and his wife Lisa own and operate the Central New Hampshire office of Home Instead Senior Care in Manchester (www.homeinstead.com/CentralNH) which offers companionship, home care and personal care services to seniors wishing to remain as independent as possible .  The impetus to launch their own agency stems from their caregiving experiences both personally and professionally.  Frank holds a Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology and has held numerous positions in both the human services and educational publishing.  Frank presently works for The McGraw-Hill Companies in Educational Publishing.  Frank & Lisa have two children, Matt and Emily.   He is delighted to serve for the Coalition of the Caring again this year!

 

Cathy Creapaux has worked for the Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services since 2003 managing the NH Family Caregiver Support Program and is a strong advocate for family caregivers.  She is currently working on a number of pilot projects to provide further assistance to those providing care to an older family member or friend. Cathy lives with her husband Bill and son Daniel in Nashua, NH. She is originally from Brooklyn, New York and has lived all over the United States from New York to California. She has worked in many capacities including the start up of a foster care program in upstate New York. She is a member of the NH RAPP Coalition, the Coalition of Caring, and the National Family Caregivers Association.

 

Lisa DiMartino worked at Lakes Region Community Services from 2007 -2010, one of the 10 Area Agencies that provides services for individuals with Developmental Disabilities
She was the Family-to-Family Coordinator and Legislative Liaison. She was also on the Family Support Council for LRCS from 2001- 2007. She is the mother of son with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome and Autism. She currently resides in Gilford NH with her husband and 2 children. Prior to employment with LRCS, she was the Children's Librarian for 6 years at the Gilford Public Library, 
She holds a B.A. Degree in Early Childhood Development from Rhode Island College and Graduate Studies in Social Work at the University of New England. Lisa currently sits on the Board of Director's for the New England Regional Genetics Group, is a member of MCAC and is an Awareness Coordinator for the Cornelia De Lange Syndrome Foundation.

 

Ellen M. Edgerly is the mother of four children, Rolly III, Sara, Nicole and Emily, and grandmother to three grandchildren, Ahlyvia, Rolly IV and Thomas.  She has resided in Rochester for the past 35 years.  She has been a caregiver for the past 18 years caring for her daughter Sara who sustained a brain injury as a result of a near drowning accident at the age of 11.  She has worked for the Brain Injury Association of New Hampshire for the past eleven years in advocating for public policy that supports individuals with brain injury and their families.  She is committed to supporting all caregivers in New Hampshire and looks forward to the success of the upcoming annual statewide caregivers conference!  It is her ongoing goal to call attention to on the state and national level the value and worth of all caregivers.

 

Denise Gookin has been working in the field Human Services for 36 years. All of these wonderful years have been spent employed at Moore Center Services, Inc. It all began in High School when she volunteered after school with developmentally disabled children and progressed from there.  She started working in the preschool setting, then to the work program, then to the residential setting, to where she today supports adults with developmental disabilities living in Residential Shared Homes through Moore Center Services.  She has worked in many different aspect of this field and has had many rewarding experiences and met many memorable people that have shaped her life. Her hobby has always been volunteering which she finds very fulfilling.  Over the years she has volunteered in Special Olympics, Advocacy Groups, Peer Groups, Summer Day Camp, as well as helping plan conferences on many different topics. She also volunteered in Girls Scouts, Boy Scouts, Youth Sports, PTA, as well as in all the grade schools that her children have attended.

 

David Ouellette has worked in the field of developmental disabilities for 23 years starting as a DSP and working his way up.  He is currently working for the NH Council on Developmental Disabilities as a Project Manager. Project includes: Strengthening the NH Workforce, Emergency Preparedness Planning, Supporting Caregivers, Frontline Supervisors Leadership Development and Co-editor of Stepping Stones NH a state wide magazine.  David lives in Rochester NH, with his wife Robin and two children Sam and Tess. He and his wife Robin have been Home Care Providers for a gentleman for the past 19 years.

 

Jeannine Leclerc is a member of the NH Brain Injury Board, co-chair and founder of the Monadnock Regional Brain Injury Steering Committee, Elementary Teacher, and Fitness Instructor. She is a certified YogaKids and AAAI yoga instructor. Eleven years ago, Jeannine's eleven year old son suffered a moderate head injury in an automobile accident.  Later her fifteen year old son was riding a three wheeler at his friend’s house without a helmet, the brakes failed and he suffered a traumatic head injury.  Since these accidents, Jeannine has tried to encourage, promote awareness, support, and educate others about brain injuries and the affects on survivors and their families. Yoga is a vehicle Jeannine uses to help cope with stress.  She has been practicing yoga for eight years and taught for four years.
