Courtyard Marriott, Grappone Conference Center Concord, NH
Message from the Coalition of Caring Chair (September 2014)
The planning and preparation for this year’s conference has been underway since January. Due to last year’s well received location, this year’s conference will be once again be held at the Courtyard Marriott in Concord, New Hampshire. A block of rooms have been reserved for caregivers at a discounted rate for those who are interested in staying overnight and enjoying some respite.
During the next few months leading up to the conference the Coalition of Caring Planning Committee’s work will be in full gear to continue our commitment to provide a conference for caregivers that meets and exceeds our mission statement.
Our Keynote Speaker Ellen Rogers will provide with both heart and humor her family’s remarkable journey as they faced the challenges of her son’s paralyzing injury – with a little help from a 5-pound monkey helper named Kasey.
The conference workshops this year will be both informational and educational to caregivers. Workshops that will be offered include: Developing Peer and Personal Support as a Caregiver, “Dealing Proactively with Chronic Sorrow”, A Caregiver’s Guide to Assistive Technologies, Mindfulness Meditation as Stress Reduction for Caregivers, “Scattered & Smothered”, and Compassionate Care: Instilling Hope When We Have Little Left to Give!
Our long standing Mistress of Ceremonies Becky Rule will be telling and gathering her humorous stories with all in attendance!
Of course, we will be offering a hot breakfast buffet, plated Thanksgiving Luncheon, massages, reiki, flu shots, a caregiver exhibitor area and raffles!
In closing I am asking for your help in our conference outreach to fellow caregivers and/or caregiver groups by sharing with them information on this wonderful conference! Please pass the Save the Date Flyer that can be found on this website to your family, friends colleagues and networks as quite a few are probably serving in the role of caregiver.
As Rosalyn Carter eloquently states:
“There are only four kinds of people in the world;
those who have been caregivers;
those who are currently caregivers;
those who will be caregivers and
those who will need caregivers.”
